As a nod to all we are all experiencing right now and to highlight the theme of #lovedtogether that we have seen throughout this COVID-19 experience, here’s a little something one of our authors wrote. We hope it brings a smile and reminds you of the journey we all sometimes take, regardless of the storm, until we remember that it is together we are better, together we are stronger, together we are beautiful, and together we are unstoppable. While this poem is specific to our current reality, we have found that focusing on the role love takes on in any difficult situation helps to remind us of what really matters.
Once upon a day so dreary, while I pondered, heart so weary
All the hurt no hand could measure
Nothing backward looks might change
Disease, unchecked, spread wheresoever
Connections lost, all forced to sever
When all the earth closed doors together
Ah, distinctly I remember the spark that lit nightmarish embers
Sparks that spread with speed and pleasure
Running, growing with each exchange
Mouths pursuing endless blether
Fears that loosed our fraying tethers
When all the earth went dark together
But together in this night, we found inside the strength to fight
To face this endless storm we weather
All heroes cheered with each refrain
And held on tight to what we treasure
Voices rose on wings of feathers
And all the world sang love together
Although we stayed closed up inside, we found we didn’t have to hide
Windows filled with hearts forever
Dollars raised for those shortchanged
And food dolled out for whosoever
An endless sea of support so clever
When all the world showed love together
Despite where this may someday lead, momentum now we can’t impede
Linked arms as one, we will endeavor
To stay this kindness interchange
And keep the lessons learned however
The hope unchained and simple pleasures
When all the world chose love together
